Provocatively entitled Adults don’t count?, the aim of this project is to investigate the impact of differing professional development on maths teachers and on attainment for their maths learners working from Entry level to Level 2. The project has been delivered in partnership with the Professional Development Centres of the South East, with expert input from Richard Churches (CfBT Education Trust) and Fiona Allan (NCTEM). It has become one of the largest randomised control trials in education aimed at maths teaching and learning in the post 16 sector. We have a very interesting result and will be launching the results of this research at a conference on November 17th in Brighton. The conference will give you the tools you need to combine advanced communication skills with innovative maths pedagogy to improve your maths learners’ attainment. The conference will include: • The project findings • Innovative workshops to give you the practical tools which worked • The most up to date maths pedagogy for Numeracy and Functional Maths • Opportunities to explore new resources • The chance to network with Maths colleagues • Lunch and all refreshments Find out [...]
